Using Mcollective, puppet and yum-updatesd to keep systems current

I previously posted on my yum-updatesd puppet module. I felt that there was still a manual step involved. I looked around for the best way to add the (dangerous) ability to keep my systems up to date without demanding much of my attention.

Seeing as I don’t really want to hire a minion, I looked around for existing mcollective plugins to do this for me. Nathan did some nice work making a yum-centric mcollective plugin, which I tweaked a bit and have repackaged as a puppet module.

I’ll put this up on the forge once I get it supporting open-source puppet, as well as enterprise. Right now, it supports enterprise only.
